Nursing Career Plan and Affecting Factors

Kaunas, 2023; 46 pages Aim:The aim of this study to define career plan of first year and last year nursing student in Lithuanian University of Health Science and the factors that affecting them. Method: The quantitative research was applied totally 156 students including first year and last year nursing students in Lithuanian University of Health Science, with using anonymous questinnaire. The questinnaire was sent to all students via internet by using email address given by university. The confidentially of research participants are guaranteed and personal informations were disclosed. Research results: According to questinnaire result, it has been seen that working place as hospital (71,1%) was ranked as first row by a wide margin.Most of them prefered to work as a clinical/bedside nurse (53,9%)position. Cardiology (36,8%) and neurology (28,9%) unit shared the big portion of pie chart. Geriatric nurse (1,3%) was chosen the smallest amount by nursing students. There are many crucial factors that affecting nursing students career plan however, sallary and supportive attutide play an important role. Conclusion:with changing of life, the nursing students‟ preferences are concurently changing. Career planning is indispensable step for our future life and it has been planning throughout academic year till gratuation. The people around the nursing students, proffesors, teachers, mentors, advisers, play an important factor in shaping nursing students career. Because, as we have seen in research supportive attitude is a crucial element.
