The aim of the study - to identify and evaluate if urinary ultrasonography is necessary for all children who are diagnosed with monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis. Retrospective case-control study was carried out, 298 children (age 5-17 years) were enroled to the study. The case group (children with monosymtomatic enuresis) consisted of 68 children. The control group contained of 210 children for whom ultrasonography was performed for other reasons than monosymptomatic enuresis. Case and control groups didn‘t differ according to age, mean age and sex. Majority of the patients with monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis were age ≤10 years, had less than 3 wet nights per week, normal voiding frequency during daytime and everybody were poliuric at night. No changes in ultrasonography was noted in the monosymptomatic enuresis patients group. 14 (6.7%) control group patients had changes in urinary tract system ultrasonography. Ultrasonography changes in urinary tract system were diagnosed more frequently in control group comparing with monosymptomatic enuresis group patients (p<0.001). Our study supports the opinion of other authors that there is not necessary to perform renal bladder ultrasonography for the cildren with monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis.
