The study was performed at Facility X, where 12 individuals of the Cotton-top tamarin (Saguinus oedipus) were studied. The aim of the study was to analyze the enviromental conditions of the primate colony kept at Facility X, nutritional characteristics, and the cognitive abilities of the animals. The study found that the keeping conditions meet the recommendations of legal acts and literature and create conditions for the natural behavior. The diet almost meets the needs of the species, although the amount of fruit is lower than the suggested amount in literature, and the amount of vegetables is higher, which may have a positive effect on the digestive system. Analysis of behavioral ethograms showed that social communication, curiosity, and joy dominated, while negative emotions were minimal. Analysis of facial expressions revealed that communication is related to the time of the day - alertness dominated in the morning, active communication in the afternoon, and social stability in the evening. After analyzing the results, it can be assumed that the enclosures, nutrition and social structure of the studied Cotton-top tamarins at Facility X ensure good physical and psychological condition of the animals. The animals demonstrate species-specific behavior, effective social communication and stable group functioning, which indicates a high level of their well-being in captivity.
