378 Controlled trial of live versus recorded lullabies in preterm infantsItem type:Publication, research article[2014][S1][S006,M001][18]; ; ; Nordic journal of music therapy. Bergen : Grieg Academy, 2014, vol. 21, no. 1, Music therapy in neonatal care., 2014-01-02, p. 71-88.The aim of this study was to compare the effects of live and recorded lullabies on physiological and behavioural state outcomes of stable preterm infants. We conducted a prospective, repeated measures crossover study, involving 35 stable infants of less than 32 weeks postmenstrual age. Each infant received a different intervention for three consecutive days (live lullabies, recorded lullabies, and no-music sessions). The infant was observed every 5 min for 30 min before, 20 min during, and 30 min after the intervention. The results revealed that the infants' heart rate (HR) decreased significantly for the live and recorded lullabies conditions but not for the control condition (p = .02). The findings also suggest that the live lullabies condition resulted in a deeper sleep than the recorded lullabies condition (p = .02) and the control condition (p = .006). No changes were observed in oxygen saturation level. The results of this study show that lullabies effectively reduce the HR of preterm infants less than 32 weeks postmenstrual age, and live lullabies have a greater beneficial impact on their sleep state than recorded lullabies.

Kaunas : Vitae litera, 2012, t. 15, Nr. 2., p. 118-124Tyrimo tikslas. Įvertinti muzikos terapijos įtaką neišnešioto naujagimio fiziologinėms funkcijoms ir elgsenai. Tyrimo metodika. Rezultatai. Širdies susitraukimų dažnis reikšmingai mažėjo po muzikos terapijos intervencijos. Naujagimiai giliau miegojo po gyvai dainuojamų lopšinių. Gyvai atliekamos lopšinės efektyviau nei lopšinių įrašai ramino. Išvados. Muzikos terapija efektyviai veikia neišnešiotų naujagimių (iki 32 savaičių amžiaus) širdies veiklą, gyvai atliekama muzika turi didelį poveikį.

Vilnius : Vilniaus universiteto leidykla, 2011, t. 14, Nr. 1., 2011-05-19, p. 95-96.Unequal and asymmetrically joined twins are termed as heteropagus. Heteropagus twins can be endoparasitic and exoparasitic. "Endoparasitic" is the type in which the abnormally developing embryo parasites the normal co-twin (autosite) by attaching to it internally. In the case of an exoparasite twin, the parasite is attached to the visible surface of the co-twin (autosite). Although the incidence of incomplete or heteropagus twinning is very rare, estimated to be 1 per 2 million live births, endoparasite twins are more common than exoparasite twins. Approximately 75 perc. of conjoined twins are females, and 70 perc. are fused at the thoeax (thoracopagus) or abdomen (omphalopagus). Thoracopagus is the most common type of conjoined twins and occurs when twins are joined at the level of the thorax. We report about the parasitic twin attached to the thoracic region. Neonate was born at 39 weeks gestation by Caesarian section to 20-year-old healthy mother with a weight of 4380 g. [...].

The infant was observed at 5-minute intervals for 30 min before, 20 min during and 30 min after the intervention. The behavioral state of the infant was video recorded and assessed. Results. During the first 30 minutes, the heart rate (HR), oxygen saturation and \behavioral state of the infants were similar. During live singing, the heart rate (HR) of the infants began to decrease. 34 Live versus recorded lullabies for infants of less than 32 weeks' gestationItem type:Publication, conference paper[2010][T1a1][M001]; ; Early human development : 2nd UENPS (Congress of Union of European Neonatal and Perinatal Societies) Congress : [Istanbul, 14th November 2010] / Academic Olympics ; Editor-in-chief: Elia Maalouf. Amsterdam : Elsevier/North-Holland, 2010, vol. 86, suppl. 1, November., 2010-11-14, p. S3, no. AO-06.Aim This study aims to compare the effect of live and recorded lullabies on the physiological and behavioral parameters of stable preterm infants (less than 32 weeks' gestation). Materials and methods Prospective, clinical experimental crossover designed investigation took place in the Neonatal units of Kaunas Medical University Hospital and Vilnius University Children Hospital. Every infant received one of three different interventions (live lullabies, recorded lullabies, and no music-control data). The duration of every intervention was 20 min once per day for three days. The order of interventions was random. The infant was observed at five minute intervals for 30 min before, during and 30 min after the intervention. The infant was filmed and the behavior was assessed. Statistical analysis was performed using the SAS package. Results The stable infants less than 32 weeks' gestation were investigated (N = 35). In the first 30 min their heart rate (HR), oxygen saturation and behavior were similar. During the live singing their HR began to decrease. When compared with the control data, their HR differed from the 60th min (p < 0.007). Their behavior became better from the 70th min (p < 0.006). During the listening of recorded music, their HR decreased and differed from the 75th min (p < 0.023). Live lullabies were more effective for the behavior in 65 min, when compared with the effect of recorded lullabies (p < 0.02). Oxygen saturation did not change during the listening of music. Conclusions In early adaptation period for the preterm infants (less than 32 weeks' gestation) live lullabies are more effective, calming and decreasing heart rate, when compared with the recorded lullabies.

Metodika. Prospektyvinis, klinikinis eksperimentinis kryžminio dizaino tyrimas atliktas KMUK Neonatologijos klinikoje ir VUVL Neonatologijos centre. Kiekvienam naujagimui 20 minučių taikytos skirtingos intervencijos (1-gyvai dainuojamos, 2- įrašytos lopšinės, 3 - be intervencijos) tris dienas iš eilės. Intervencijų seka atsitiktinė. Stebėjimas kas 5 minutes, t.p. 30 minučių prieš ir po intervencijos. Elgesys filmuojamas ir vertinamas. Statistinė analizė atlikta SAS paketu. Rezultatai. Tirti 35 naujagimiai. Pirmas 30 min. ŠSD, kraujo įsotinimas deguonimi ir elgesys visų trijų intervencijų metu reikšmingai nesiskyrė. Gyvo dainavimo metu ŠSD pradeda mažėti skambant lopšinėms. [...].
