Introduction. Potentilla anserina (L.) Rydb., commonly known as silverweed cinquefoil or goosegrass, is a perennial herbaceous plant that belongs to the Rosaceae family. It is native to Eurasia and widely distributed in temperate regions worldwide [1]. P. anserina is a versatile plant that may flourish in a range of environments, including meadows, grasslands, and by the sides of roadways [2]. The plant has been utilized in conventional medicine for its astringent and anti-inflammatory qualities. Phenolic compounds are an important class of bioactive compounds found in P. anserina with a wide range of biological activities, including antioxidant, antimicrobial, anticarcinogenic, and anti-inflammatory properties [3]. Due to the lack of research on the species, this study aimed to determine the total phenolic composition of P. anserina grown in rural habitat. Materials and methods. Above-ground parts of P. anserina were collected every two weeks in the months of June-August from the Central part of Lithuania in rural area. 0.2 g of dry matter and 20 mL of 70% acetone were used to make the extracts. After presetting the power to 800 W, the extracts are submerged in an ultrasonic bath for 15 minutes. The Folin-Ciocalteu method was used to determine the total phenolic content [4]. Results and their discussion. The total phenolic content varied between 84.15 ± 4.50 mg/g GAE and 111.51 ± 3.59 mg/g GAE at different times of vegetation. According to the results, phenolic content peaked in June at 111.51 ± 3.59 mg/g GAE at the beginning of the flowering period, and the lowest was determined in August at 84.15 ± 4.50 mg/g GAE, at the end of vegetation.
