The aim of the study was to analyze the relationship between adolescent's burnout at school and academic support provided by parents. Participants. Sixty respondents with a mean age of 17.2 years (SD= 0.98) participated in this pilot study, 48.4% of them male (n=29) and 51.6% of them female (n=31). Methods. Parental academic support was measured using the Perceived Parental Academic Support Scale consisting of 31 statements. Subjects were asked to indicate their level of agreement or disagreement with the statement on a 5-point Likert scale ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). Adolescents' burnout at school was measured using the School Burnout Inventory, which consists of 9 statements. All items were rated on a Likert scale from 1 (strongly disagree) to 6 (strongly agree). Additional questions developed by the researcher included socio-demographic characteristics (age and gender) and average time spent studying (weekdays and weekends). Study results. The analysis of burnout in adolescents found that the majority of the subjects (46,7 proc.) experienced high or moderate burnout at school, regardless of gender (p=0,301) and age (p=0,741). Almost half of the subjects (48,4 proc.) also felt medium or high levels of academic support from their parents. Girls significantly felt more academic support from their parents than boys (p=0,011), but the level of academic support did not differ by age (p=0,523). Finally, there was a weak relationship (rho=0,2) between adolescent burnout and parental academic support, but this was not statistically significant (p=0,135). Conclusions. Almost half of the subjects experienced moderate levels of burnout at school, while one third of the subjects experienced high levels of burnout. Almost half of the subjects felt moderate parental support. Girls felt higher levels of academic support from their parents compared to boys. The burnout experienced by adolescents was not related to the academic support provided by parents.
