The presentation will aim to highlight the importance of cooperation between the surgeon and the orthodontist while treating complex dentofacial deformities. It is mandatory that two specialists understand each other's needs since good orthhodontic setup for surgery may facillitate surgical procedure and may even reduce its extent, whereas precise execution of surgery will proceduce a more stable and easily manageable occlusion for the orthodontist. Etiology of development of asymmetries and various treatment modalities will be reviewed. Forced symmetry and independent A-P planning protocols will be described in detail with subsequent case presentations. A special emphasis will be placed on the importance of the 3D planning in treating facial asymmetries.
