Ceremony of signing the memorandum of understanding

Abstract

We are very glad that this Joint Symposium is organized for the third times as a joint effort to foster scientific links between Japanese and Lithuanian researchers. It is an honor for me to host the Symposium at the Research Council of Lithuania and l would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Symposium speakers and co-organizers - the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Japan, who helped to make this event a reality. Separately, l would like to thank prof. Makoto Asashima, for his invaluable support and personal contribution to organization of this event. Enhancing scientific cooperation with Japan is our strategic aim, therefore after the Symposia held in Japan in 2014 and 2015, the Research Council of Lithuania launched complementary calls to the JSPS Open Partnership scheme. As a result the Research Council of Lithuania now funds 8 research projects implemented together with Japanese researchers. [...].
