Kontrastinės medžiagos radiologijoje yra labai svarbios vaizdų diagnostiniam tikslumui. Jos naudojamos įvairiuose tyrimuose, tokiuose kaip kompiuterinė tomografija (KT), magnetinio rezonanso tomografija (MRT) ir ultragarsas (UG). Kontrastinės medžiagos, pvz., jodo junginiai KT tyrime ir gadolinio pagrindu pagaminti preparatai MRT tyrime, pagerina audinių ar organų vizualizaciją, keisdamos kontrastą tarp skirtingų struktūrų.
Contrast agents in radiology are critical to the diagnostic accuracy of images. They are used in various tests, such as computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound (US). Contrast agents, such as iodine compounds in CT scans and gadolinium-based agents in MRI scans, improve the visualization of tissues or organs by changing the contrast between different structures. The aim of this study is to analyze and review the evidence-based scientific literature for the contrast agents in radiology. Electronic literature was conducted in PubMed, UpToDate databases, using keywords: contrast agents, radiology, diagnostics, CT examination, MRI examination, UG examination. According to the literature, contrast agents improve diagnostic accuracy by highlighting pathological changes, e.g. tumors or vascular pathologies. Although contrast agents are considered safe, their use is associated with potential adverse effects, e.g. allergic reactions or contrast-induced nephropathy.
