Hyperbaric oxygen therapy usage in oral maxillofacial inflammation treatment

Abstract

In everyday practise most common inflammations in maxillofacial region occurs after tooth extractions, fractures, osteonecrosis after medication or radiotherapy and phlegmones. This is where HBO plays a very important role before and sometimes after surgical procedures. The aim of the study to make a literature review of HBO practice in inflammation treatment and also to conduct the investigation of patients' HBO treatment experience in Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health and Sciences Kauno Clinics Department of Maxillofacial Surgery. Materials and methods. we examined patients in Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health and Sciences Kauno Clinics Department of Maxillofacial Surgery. To improve their healing process we used HBO therapy from 3 to 10 times per treatment. We also made literature review connected to the research subject. Results.
