External cephalic version due to breech resentation in Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kauno Klinikos. 10 years analysis

INTRODUCTION External cephalic version is a safe and usually successful procedure, in lowering Caesarian section count with fetus breech presentation. It is suggested to perform external cephalic presentation if gestation time is 37th week and there are no contraindications. AIM The aim of our work is to evaluate way out of successful and unsuccessful external cephalic version (ECV) due to breech presentation in a period of 10 years in Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kauno Klinikos, Ob/Gyn Dept. METHODS The retrospective analysis was performed in the Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kauno Klinikos the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (HLUHS KK Ob/Gyn Dept) from 2007, February the 3rd to 2017, December 21st. Total of 240 of ECV,s were performed at that period. The final analysis was conducted of 102 cases (42.5%), as these women gave birth in the same Department and we could evaluate their delivery outcomes. The control group was composed of 460 cases from obstetrical birth register of HLUHS KK Ob/Gyn Dept by selecting every 10th of case according to a Robson criteria R1 and R3 starting from 2014, January the 1st. If the entry was not suitable, the closest correct entry was chosen. Women were divided into 2 groups according to a gestation week: 1st group – up to 37th week + 6 days, 2nd group – ≥ 38th week or more. To calculate statistical significance SPSS 22.0 was used. P <0.05 was statistically significant difference. Control group was composed of 460 cases from obstetrical birth register by selecting every 10th of case according to a Robson (R1) criteria starting from 2014.
