On October 20, the day before this year’s international lifestyle medicine conference, we are organizing a special pre-conference event. It is designed for healthcare professionals (physicians, nurses, etc.) from lifestyle medicine and other fields, as well as students interested in effective patient communication.

We invite you to join the training sessions and practical workshops. These will provide not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills that you can apply in your professional practice to foster more sustainable health changes in patients and make patient communication more meaningful and effective.

Dr. Karen Gregory-Mercado, PhD, a faculty member at Arizona State University’s College of Health Solutions—who developed and led the NBHWC-approved Health and Wellness Coaching program—is coming to Lithuania.

an expert with over 20 years of experience in health education, behavior change training, and health coaching, she will share her expertise on how to:

help patients discover their intrinsic motivation;

communicate in a way that makes the person feel heard;

strengthen patient engagement in health-related changes;

establish a supportive health coaching approach;

create a collaborative, respectful, and empowering consultation environment;

apply health coaching methods in clinical settings.

This day will provide not only an intensive space for practical training, but also an opportunity to meet practising lifestyle medicine and other specialists who will share real-life experience, clinical examples, and insights from everyday work.

Participants will hear and learn about:

eating disorders and the role of the lifestyle medicine specialist in the healing process;

how smart technologies can become a real aid in behaviour change, progress monitoring, and motivation support;

the connections and differences between lifestyle medicine, endobiogenics, and longevity;

how physical activity is applied in lifestyle medicine interventions, including the principles of physical activity suitable for people of different ages and health conditions;

a holistic approach to the patient: how to see a person not through separate health problems but through the functioning of all body systems and their interaction with the environment.

During the practical workshop on clinical case analysis held as part of the pre-conference program, healthcare professionals will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of lifestyle medicine and learn how to consistently apply it in their daily clinical practice.

The interactive workshop will involve the analysis of real-life clinical patient cases, integrating the theoretical foundations of lifestyle medicine with practical solutions. Participants will learn to link a patient’s diseases, symptoms, and clinical data with lifestyle-related risk factors, identify priority issues, and develop a personalized lifestyle medicine intervention plan.

The workshop will examine the mechanisms of action behind these interventions, their clinical validity, applicability, and potential barriers to implementation. The sessions will be enriched by the generation of practical ideas, teamwork, discussions, and the sharing of professional experience.

This event is designed for both novice and experienced professionals looking to enhance their skills in addressing patient behavioral changes and developing sustainable, patient-centered solutions—offering a space for safe experimentation and learning.

Delicious snacks will be provided during the event.
