The lecture will take place at Room A-203, Faculty of Pharmacy, LSMU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prof. Luciano Saso is the professor and research coordinator at the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Pharmacy and Medicine, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. He has been a member of the review panels of many national and international funding agencies and international scientific journals for the last 30 years. Prof. Luciano Saso was a member of the Coordinating Committee of the Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe (UNICA) for four years (2011\u20132015) and President of the organisation for eight years (2015\u20132023). He took over as Secretary General of the UNICA Committee in June 2023. Professor Saso\u2019s publications have been cited more than 22,000 times and his H-index is 74 (Google Scholar)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Professor Luciano Saso was awarded the status of Visiting Professor at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences in 2024 for his services to the University, its development, studies, and research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Excerpt from the introduction by Prof. Luciano Saso: \u201cDrug development is a very complex and capital-intensive procedure that requires many different competences in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, pharmacy, pharmacology, and biotechnology. Many important drugs have been discovered by chance, but good scientists know that, as Louis Pasteur said, \u2018chance favours only the prepared mind\u2019.
