\u2018Help\u2019 is a widely used term whose meaning might appear to be self-evident. \u00a0However, when considering help in difficult situations there are many layers of meaning and complexity.\u00a0A critical element in the examination of help is the degree to which it is thought of as a relational endeavor and a process.\u00a0In this brief talk I aim to offer some ways of thinking of help. I hope to stimulate discussion of how some of the themes in Levinas\u2019s work such as\u00a0\u2018immanence’ and\u00a0\u2018other’ can deepen our understanding and everyday practice of help. Or perhaps to re-frame it altogether.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
