Intellectual property covers <strong>industrial property objects<\/strong> and <strong>copyright<\/strong> objects. Its creator (or organisation) is granted exclusive rights to use, commercialise, or license this asset.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n        \n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>To make full use of the potential of intellectual property \u2013 to gain academic recognition, obtain material returns, establish start-ups, or collaborate with business \u2013 it is essential to ensure its protection as early as possible. This is particularly important before giving public presentations, submitting publications, or starting negotiations with external partners.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n        \t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bg-gray-200 page-content\">\n\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n\t\t\t<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>An <strong>invention patent<\/strong> is one of the forms of intellectual property protection, granting the inventor exclusive rights to use their technical solution. This may be a new product, material, method, or device.<\/p>\n<p>A <strong>patent<\/strong> is a form of territorial protection of your invention. In the Republic of Lithuania, a patent is granted by the<a href=\"https:\/\/vpb.lrv.lt\/en\/\"><strong> State Patent Bureau<\/strong>.<\/a> However, in order to protect an invention abroad, registration is required in other countries or through international systems.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"page-content\">\n\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n\t\t\t\t<h2>Invention <strong>Patentability Criteria<\/strong><\/h2>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"check-cols\">\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul class=\"big\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li><strong>Novelty:<\/strong> the invention must not have been disclosed before the application is filed (neither publicly announced nor used in Lithuania or elsewhere).<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t        \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul class=\"big\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li><strong>Inventive step:<\/strong> the solution must not be obvious to a specialist in the field \u2013 it cannot simply be a straightforward combination of existing solutions.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t        \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul class=\"big\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li><strong>Industrial application:<\/strong> the invention must be applicable in manufacturing or usable in various fields \u2013 industry, agriculture, medicine, etc..<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t        \n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n\t<div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\">\n        <div class=\"acc-set\">\n\t                                                            <div class=\"acc-item\" id=\"patenting-routes-and-processes\">\n                                                    <div class=\"acc-head\">\n                                Patenting routes and processes \u00a0                            <\/div>\n                                                                            <div class=\"acc-c\">\n                                <div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n                                    \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Main patenting routes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>National patent<\/strong> \u2013 application submitted to a specific country, valid only in that territory.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>European Patent (EP)<\/strong> \u2013 a single application to the European Patent Office, extended to the selected 39 countries. Since 1 June 2023, the Unitary European Patent may also be chosen, currently covering 18 EU member states. Further information on the European and Unitary Patent can be found on the official European Patent Office website.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eurasian Patent <\/strong>\u2013 valid in 9 countries (mainly in the CIS area).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>International Application (PCT)<\/strong> \u2013 covers up to 158 countries. class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"1\">\n<li><strong>Idea!<\/strong>\u00a0The first step is completing an invention disclosure or trademark form\u00a0in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pdvs.lsmu.lt\/sritys\/inovacijos\/ddm\/Lists\/dokumentu_rusys\/sukurti_nauja.aspx\">INTTO\u00a0module<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The form<\/strong> is submitted to the LSMU Health Innovation Development Centre, which evaluates its patentability, commercialisation potential, and further steps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Consultations<\/strong> with patent attorneys \u2013 as needed, partners are selected for application preparation and evaluation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Application submission<\/strong> \u2013 registration at the State Patent Bureau or in chosen
