The overall goal is to deliver interdisciplinary solutions (molecular, nutritional, eHealth and patient engagement\/empowerment level) for health promotion and disease prevention that would enable active patient engagement in health and self-care management. Taking on this mission, miGut-Health pursues the following strategic goals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"h-nbsp-to-integrate-state-of-the-art-omics-molecular-clinical-nutrition-social-and-environmental-for-identification-of-actionable-biomarkers-risk-and-health-promoting-factors-linked-to-health-to-disease-transition-in-the-general-population-ibd-high-risk-persons-as-well-as-ibd-patients\">&nbsp;&#8211; To integrate state-of-the-art omics (molecular, clinical, nutrition, social and environmental) for identification of actionable biomarkers, risk and health promoting factors linked to health-to disease transition in the general population, IBD high risk persons, as well as IBD patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"h-nbsp-to-perform-systems-level-analyses-of-chronic-inflammation-by-applying-integrative-models-from-omics-and-clinical-data-to-predict-risk-for-health-to-disease-transition-in-ibd\">&nbsp;&#8211; To perform systems-level analyses of chronic inflammation by applying integrative models from omics and clinical data to predict risk for health-to-disease transition in IBD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"h-to-perform-a-proof-of-concept-controlled-clinical-trial-studying-a-nutrient-elimination-diet-here-gluten-free-diet-and-its-impact-on-intestinal-inflammation-in-ibd-patients-and-high-risk-individuals\">\u2013 To perform a proof-of-concept controlled clinical trial studying a nutrient elimination diet (here: gluten-free diet) and its impact on intestinal inflammation in IBD patients and high-risk individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"h-nbsp-to-exploit-the-impact-of-microbiome-derived-diet-associated-metabolites-on-gut-inflammation-reversion-and-restoration-of-barrier-integrity-and-function-using-an-innovative-co-culture-system-of-primary-human-intestinal-organoids-and-sorted-immune-cell-subsets\">&nbsp;&#8211; To exploit the impact of microbiome-derived diet-associated metabolites on gut inflammation reversion and restoration of barrier integrity and function using an innovative co-culture system of primary human intestinal organoids and sorted immune cell subsets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"h-nbsp-to-develop-and-apply-novel-technologies-sensors-mobile-apps-to-dynamically-monitor-individual-nutrition-as-well-as-physical-activity-and-principal-health-status\">&nbsp;&#8211; To develop and apply novel technologies (sensors, mobile apps) to dynamically monitor individual nutrition as well as physical activity and principal health status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; To implement a patient-centered approach for personalized health and self-care engagement targeted at IBD patients, individuals at risk for IBD and the general population as well as tools for health-care professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Expected outcomes in miGut-Health:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; Biomarkers and prediction models that will enable researchers and medical professionals understand the chronic inflammation factors triggering the health-to-disease transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; Personalized molecular, life-style and nutrition-based health indicators and health tracking e-tools for health care professionals and citizens enabling to improve the health outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; Health care professionals will gain scientifically validated data on omics, dietary and lifestyle factors and clinically applicable biomarkers of health-to-disease transition.
