At present, it is headed by Prof. Vitalis Briedis. The Department currently has 10 employees: two professors, one associate professor, three lecturers, two assistants, one administrator of studies, and one laboratory assistant.\u00a0 Comprehensive studies in clinical pharmacy enable physicians and pharmacists to work more closely together in patient care and in the optimisation of pharmacotherapy, with the ultimate goal of improving citizens\u2019 health, quality of life, and disease prevention.<br><br><em>Main objectives of the Department:\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>to deliver studies in the field of biomedical sciences, which provide individuals with research-based higher university education at the state-of-the-art level of knowledge and technology, higher education qualifications, and develop a well-rounded, ethically responsible, and creative personality;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>to carry out high-level scientific research and experimental development in line with the research field of the Department, to train scientists, to carry out various practical activities, and to cooperate with national and international partners in research and other fields.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"page-content\">\n\n\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n\t\t\t\t<h2>OUR ACTIVITIES<\/h2>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"tabs-h mt-10\">\n\t\t\t\t<ul class=\"js-tabs full-color-tabs\">\n\t\t\t\t                    \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"current\" id=\"studies\"><a href=\"#tab-01\">STUDIES<\/a><\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t                    \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li  id=\"research\"><a href=\"#tab-02\">RESEARCH<\/a><\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t                    \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li  id=\"projects\"><a href=\"#tab-03\">PROJECTS<\/a><\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t                    \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li  id=\"collaboration\"><a href=\"#tab-04\">COLLABORATION<\/a><\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"tab-c bordered active\" id=\"tab-01\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Department of Clinical Pharmacy teaches the following courses in Lithuanian and English to the students of the Faculty of Pharmacy:<br \/>\nBiopharmaceuticals (Year III);<br \/>\nPharmaceutical Biotechnology (Year IV) subjects in the module Disease Management: <em>Clinical Pharmacy<\/em> and <em>Clinical Pharmacology<\/em>,<br \/>\nBiological Pharmaceuticals within the module <em>Development of Pharmaceutical Products<\/em> and elective course <em>Clinical Studies of Pharmaceuticals<\/em> (Year V).<br \/>\nThe following subjects are taught in the KTU-LSMU joint master\u2019s programme Medical Chemistry: <em>Drug Development<\/em> and <em>Scientific Research Project 1 <\/em>(Year I); <em>Research Project 2<\/em> (Year II).<\/p>\n<p>The Department also conducts doctoral studies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mandatory subjects<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Biopharmaceuticals (Year III);<br \/>\nPharmaceutical Biotechnology (Year IV);<br \/>\n<em>Clinical Pharmacy<\/em> within the module Disease Management (Year IV);<br \/>\n<em>Biological Pharmaceuticals<\/em> within the module Development of Pharmaceutical Products (Year V).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elective subjects<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Elective subjects taught under the KTU-LSMU joint Master\u2019s study programme Medicinal Chemistry: Scientific Research Project 1 (Year I), Scientific Research Project 2 (Year II).<br \/>\nElective course Clinical Studies of Pharmaceuticals (Year V) within the study programme Pharmacy.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"tab-c bordered \" id=\"tab-02\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Clinical pharmaceutical aspects of application of medicinal products.
