University accepts applications for doctoral studies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. in the area of Medical and Health Sciences the fields of Medicine, Odontology, Pharmacy, Public Health and Nursing;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. in the area of Natural Sciences in the fields of Biology and Biophysics;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. in the area of Agricultural Sciences the fields of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Persons holding a master\u2019s degree (or equivalent qualification) are eligible to participate in the selection process for admission to doctoral studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Main selection criteria:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the relevance of the doctoral application to the development objectives of the Faculty or the Research Institute;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the results of completing master\u2019s or equivalent higher education qualification studies;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>published research articles or papers if there are no published peer-reviewed research articles;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>understanding and motivation of the scientific problems of the field of study where they are applying;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>compliance of research with the strategic directions of the University\u2019s development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The applicant should submit the following documents to the Research Affairs Department:<br>1. application to participate in the competition (see below);<br>2. curriculum vitae;<br>3. recommendations by two researchers (the head of the department, where the applicant wishes to study, and the expected doctoral supervisor);<br>4. a copy of the master\u2019s degree or equivalent higher education qualification diploma and its supplements;<br>5. a copy of the specialised medical practice license (for those applying to clinical departments), issued by the State Accreditation Service for Healthcare Activities, or a certificate indicating that at least 50 percent of the residency study program has been completed in Lithuania;<br>6. list of bibliography (to be approved by the responsible LSMU library employee) and copies of scientific articles. Iif there are no published scientific articles, a scientific paper reflecting the focus of the research and work activities (the topic of the paper shall be proposed by the department that has requested a doctoral placement). The paper will be evaluated by the prospective doctoral student\u2019s supervisor in the recommendation and given points based on the ten-point scale;<br>7. a copy of the document certifying the qualification degree, or an equivalent higher education can apply to obtain a doctorate degree extramurally. A scientific monograph written by the candidate without co-authors may also be submitted as a dissertation for defense. An abstract of the monograph should also be provided. In this case, other scientific publications should be submitted if they are needed to illustrate the topic of the dissertation. A dissertation based on a collection of scientific articles may also be submitted for defense as a doctoral dissertation. In this case, the dissertation must consist of a review of at least 1 author\u2019s sheet, a summary in Lithuanian or a foreign language (the summary must be prepared in a language other than the language of the review), and copies of the candidate\u2019s publications on the subject of the dissertation. The dissertation candidate must have published the main results of his\/her research in at least four articles that have been published in international scientific journals with a citation index in the <em>CA WoS <\/em>database and hold the main author\u2019s position in two of them. Once a dissertation has been defended based on a collection of scientific articles, these articles may not be used in the defense of other dissertations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a>An external candidate must submit an <\/a>application for defending a doctoral dissertation to the Rector, indicating the topic of the dissertation the research area and field. The application shall be accompanied by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>dissertation manuscript or published scientific monograph;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a list of scientific publications and their copies;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a copy of a Master\u2019s degree or an equivalent higher education qualification diploma and its appendix (appendixes);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>description of life, scientific and creative activities;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>report of doctoral studies exams (if any) or their descriptions of doctoral study subject programmes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p
