The Institute of Oncology of the Faculty of Medicine under the Medical Academy of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences is a structural unit of the organisation of research activities that does not hold the status of a legal person. The Institute of Oncology conducts scientific research and experimental development activities of strategic importance to the University, delivers courses under the respective study programmes, and trains prospective researchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Institute of Oncology consists of the departments of the faculty: the Oncology and Hematology Clinic and the Oncology Research Laboratory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Studies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The staff of the Institute of Oncology teach the students of integrated study programme \u201cMedicine\u201d (in Lithuanian and English), undergraduate students of the study programmes \u201cMedical and Veterinary Genetics\u201d, graduate students of \u201cLaboratory Medicine Biology\u201d, and act as supervisors to the residents. The Institute provides guidance to the undergraduate students of \u201cMedical and Veterinary Biochemistry\u201d, students of integrated study programme \u201cMedicine\u201d(to the Lithuanian and international students). The staff of the Institute of Oncology teach 4 doctoral courses: \u201cBiology of tumours, new diagnostic and treatment methods, biological therapy\u201d, \u201cPrognostic and predictive genetic actions of tumours of different localisations\u201d, \u201cOncology\u201d, \u201cThrombophilias and haemorrhagic dialysis\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Institute of Oncology employs 20 teachers: 3 professors, 3 associate professors, 11 lecturers, and 3 assistants.
