The curriculum encompasses preclinical and clinical courses in cariology, endodontics, periodontology, and oral mucosal diseases. Third-year Oral Hygiene students are also introduced to these pathologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Clinic houses four modern clinical teaching rooms equipped with dental instrumentation. Second-year students develop preclinical skills in a state-of-the-art simulation center, practicing on virtual 3D and clinical simulators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students attend a full lecture course for each subject and consolidate their knowledge through theoretical seminars. Practical skills are developed during clinical sessions supervised by lecturers who are specialist dentists in the respective fields. In the final X semester, particular emphasis is placed on clinical practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students and resident doctors gain hands-on experience with modern dental equipment, including dental microscopes, rotary endodontic instruments, and hard- and soft-tissue lasers. They are encouraged to explore innovations in dentistry and actively engage in scientific research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Clinical activities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Department provides routine dental care as well as specialized diagnostics and treatment for pulp, periodontal, and oral mucosal diseases. Patients with complex dental and oral pathologies are referred here from across Lithuania. Approximately 16,000 patients are seen by the Department\u2019s dentists and specialists each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"page-content\">\n\n\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"tabs-h mt-10\">\n\t\t\t\t<ul class=\"js-tabs full-color-tabs\">\n\t\t\t\t                    \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"current\" id=\"studies\"><a href=\"#tab-01\">Studies<\/a><\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t                    \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li  id=\"research\"><a href=\"#tab-02\">Research<\/a><\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"tab-c bordered active\" id=\"tab-01\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Department offers 3-year residency and doctoral studies in endodontics and periodontics.\u00a0 Periodically, the research associates at the Department attends advanced training and continued professional development (CPD) courses, as well as individual internships for doctors in Lithuania and abroad.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"tab-c bordered \" id=\"tab-02\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Research Area<\/strong>\u00a0of the Clinic of Prosthodontics &#8211; Pathology of the face, jaws, and oral cavity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Research topics:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clinical diagnostics of dental tissue and apical periodontal diseases; prognostic and clinical studies (supervisor Prof. Vita Ma\u010diulskien\u0117-Visockien\u0117);<\/li>\n<li>Periodontal disease research; diagnostics and efficacy of biologically active materials and their application in treatment (supervisor Prof. Nomeda Basevi\u010dien\u0117);<\/li>\n<li>Studies on the efficacy and quality assessment of diagnostic and treatment technologies (instruments, materials, radiological tools) used in dentistry (supervisor Assoc. Prof. Tadas Venskutonis).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The endodontists working at the Department collaborate with the researchers at Kaunas University of Technology to develop optimal protocols for mechanical root canal preparation.
