The Department already has three professors, three associate professors, two lecturers, and ten assistants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>HISTORY<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Internal Medicine Departmet was established in 2002, after the reorganisation of the Department of Internal Medicine Propaedeutics. The long-time head of the Department of Internal Medicine Propaedeutics was Prof. Alfredas \u017diug\u017eda (1952 &#8211; 1988), later &#8211; Prof. Dr. Marija Staponkien\u0117 (1988 -2001). The Internal Medicine Department is located in Kaunas Clinics Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"page-content\">\n\n\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"tabs-h mt-10\">\n\t\t\t\t<ul class=\"js-tabs full-color-tabs\">\n\t\t\t\t                    \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"current\" id=\"studies\"><a href=\"#tab-01\">Studies<\/a><\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t                    \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li  id=\"research\"><a href=\"#tab-02\">Research<\/a><\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t                    \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li  id=\"cooperation\"><a href=\"#tab-03\">Cooperation<\/a><\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"tab-c bordered active\" id=\"tab-01\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Undergraduate studies \u2013 problem-based teaching of 2<sup>nd<\/sup>-3<sup>rd<\/sup>-year students of the Faculty of Medicine, Internal Diseases are taught to students of the Faculties of Odontology, Pharmacy, Assessment of Health Status for students of the Faculty of Nursing. 2<sup>nd<\/sup>-level studies &#8211; for students of the 1<sup>st<\/sup>-year of the Faculty of Medicine &#8211; Laboratory Medicine Biology. About one hundred residents are studying in the postgraduate internal medicine residency programme.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"tab-c bordered \" id=\"tab-02\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Diagnosis of heart failure using the impedance plethysmography method (in cooperation with the cardiology clinic). Non-invasive diagnostics of peripheral arterial disease.<\/p>\n<p>Changes in ECG stages of myocardial infarction. Determination of atherosclerotic changes using non-invasive methods. There are 2 doctorates with PhD working at the Department.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"tab-c bordered \" id=\"tab-03\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"prose md:prose-lg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>There is cooperation with the global 3M LITTMANN company, Asfendiyarov Medical University of Kazakhstan, the international journal \u201cElectrocardiology\u201d. Prof. E.
