SUMMARY Personnel health and efficiency of hairdressers and clients safety and health have influence hygiene and ergonomic work conditions, lifestyle, psichologic and social agents. Professional practice of hairdressin rooms and cosmetic offices personnel work conditionsand health can influence the size of accommodation, exposition of them, equipment of public utilities, ergonomic installation of work place, illumination, air impurity of dust and aerosols, noise ant others factors of work place and environment. Aim of the study. To investigate personnel of hairdressing rooms and cosmetics offices hygiene and ergonomic work conditions and psichosocial factors and to explain connection with health representation. Objectives. 1. To investigate demografic and profesional conditions of hairdressers, subjective estimation of theirs health and representation of health; 2. To perform hairdressers living and psichosocial factors; 3. To perform estimation of hygiene and ergonomic work conditions and safety of work; 4. To estimate connection of hairdressers with work conditions, lifestyle, psichosocial factors and health representation; 5. To suggest cures for work safety and prophylaxis of health. Methods. This research was performe in 2003-2005. There were 181 hairdressers, manicurists, cosmetologists and administrators of Kaunas town in this interrogation. With reference analysis of literature was made questionnaire from 4 sections: in documentry part – 5 questions, in helth condition and representation part – 6 questions, in lifestyle and social-psichological factors part – 9 questions, in work activity and work conditions part – 17 questions. Received data were analyzed by SPSS 11,5 version. Results.There were 181 respondents in this research, 94,5% women and 5,5% men. The biggest part of respondents (73,3%) were hairdressers, 21,3% - manicurists,4,7% - cosmetologists and 0,7% - administrators. Respondents had indicative substantial simptoms which they associate with work conditions. The bigger part of manicurists (41,7%) assimilate with hairdressers (15,6%) indicate back pain, optic reverse (4,2% and 1,6% accordingly), hand melting (4,2% ir 1,6% accordingly), The bogger part of hairdressers indicate varicose veins of legs (20,36%), headache (14,1%), dermatosis and desquamating (1,6%). Conclusions. 54,1% their health considered well, 43,6% thought that they are not well and 2,2 % indicated that they are bad health. 90,5% respondents Don’t had health problems which associate with varying chemical and disinfectant using. Recommendations. Furniture and equipment of hairdressing rooms and cosmetic salons have to accord Lithuanian Republic acts of liberty and requirements of HN 117-2002. Cabinets have to be provide not only cold but also hot water plumbing. Hairdressers must wash hands before giving favour every time. This have to see client. The public health specialists have frequent and better to control this system personnel safety and health implements practical realization.
