The aim of the present study is to determine whether TUNEL in situ enzymatic reaction can be used for detection of cadmium-induced apoptosis in mouse liver. The experiments were performed with white laboratory mice using intraperitoneal injections of cadmium chloride solution in the dose of 1.6 mg/kg of body mass. Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded liver sections were dewaxed by washing in xylene and rehydrated through a gradual series of ethanol and distilled water.
