Objective: To overview Lithuanian pediatric burn injuries and tactical means of burn injury prevention. Evaluate most common pediatric burn injury risk factors and summarize the effect of educational campaigns and legislation on pediatric burn prevention. Methods: Retrospective analysis of hospitalized patients case histories and national database of burn injuries including non hospitalized patients. Literature and internet data review on pediatric burn injury prevention. Analysis of past and present educational campaigns comparing with highly developed country programs and strategies. Results and conclusion: On the basis of epidemiology and etiology of burn injury, hospitalized patients data and literature review there is evidence of educational campaigns and legislation are in great use and should be repeated frequently and have a continuous character because most of pediatric burn injuries are preventable. Research is an essential key for burn injury prevention.
