INTRODUCTION Placental abruption is a premature placental separation from the wall of uterus. The rate of this pathology is about 1% of all pregnancies and this is one of the most ominous obstetric complications. Premature placental separation is a life-threatening condition to a fetus and their mother. This pathology often occurs after 20 weeks of gestation, is widespread and independent on the economic situation of a region. In this research, we estimate what are the main symptoms, complications for the mother and perinatal outcomes in cases with placental detachment. AIM Estimate pregnancy and labour course peculiarities, perinatal outcomes in the presence of placental abruption diagnosis. METHODS A retrospective analysis was undertaken of 76 women who gave birth at Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kaunas Clinics department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the period of 01/01/2016-31/12/2016 and were diagnosed with placental abruption. Medical records were included in this study to evaluate clinical symptoms, labour processes, delivery types and complications. Conditions of fetuses were determined considering cardiotocography (CTG) and ultrasonography. Newborn condition was rated by APGAR scale. Preterm and term gestation perinatal outcomes were compared.
