Abstract (en)
Ovarian remnant syndrome (ORS) refers to a condition occurring in women who have had bilateral salpingoophorectomy (BSO) with or without hysterectomy. That results in residual ovarian tissue. This tissue may eventually cause pelvic pain or a pelvic mass, and also become malignant. Although the incidence of neoplasia is considered to be very low, the possibillity of malignancy must not be overlooked. We present a case of adenocarcinoma in an ovarian remnant and discuss main embryological and anatomivcal implications of female genital system that may play an important role in the successful prevention and management of ORS.
