Introduction. Health services across Europe are faced with the increasing challenge of delivering accessible, appropriate and effective care for migrants. Some service providers already have a long tradition of delivering health care to migrants, particularly in large cities such as London and Paris. Elsewhere, as in central and eastern Europe, immigration on a substantial scale is a much more recent phenomenon and health services have only recently begun to see significant numbers of migrants as patients.
