Baltymų vertė priklauso nuo juose esančių nepakečiamųjų amino rūgščių kiekio ir santykio. Nepakeičiamosios amino rūgštys gyvulio organizme nesisintetina; jos į organizmą patenka su pašarais.
Of the different amino acids needed to make the required proteins, 10 are considered to be essential for milking cows. Essential amino acids are those which can not be synthesised by animal tissues. Thus essential amino acids must be absorbed from the intestines. Amounts of amino acids in different products and feeds are not identical.
