The horse breed Žemaitukai that originated genetically directly from the wild horse tarpan has been preserved by the Lithuanians. The Žemaitukai are considered an important part of ethic cultural heritage. The breed is recognized as watched internationally. From 1996 to 2007, 232 blood samples were collected from Žemaitukai horses for testing at the Blood Typing Laboratory of the LVA Institute of Animal Science. [...].
