Effects of increased amounts of mental ions on the concentration of acute phase proteins α₁-antitrypsin (α₁-AT) and fibrinogen were studied. α₁-AT from various animal species has similar structure and composition. We found that monoclonal antibodies against human α₁-AT recognize around 90% of the rat protease inhibitor. Using these antibodies, we determined amounts of the inhibitor in the rats treated with toxic doses of cadmium. [...].
