Abstract (en)
The epidemiology and clinical picture of the childhood onset form of Type 1 diabetes (i.e., ages <15 years) has been studied extensively. The aim of the IDA study is to investigate the epidemiology of Type 1 diabetes with onset in young adulthood in Europe. We here report the clinical presentation of diabetes in 15-30 year old patients for the years 1996 and 1997. Nine centres located all over Europe took part in the study: Sardinia (Italy), Romania, Catalonia (Spain), Slovakia, Antwerp region (BElgium), Lithuania, Sweden, Yorkshire and Leicestershire (UK).
