Abstract (en)
There were 32 patients suffering from pyopneumothorax treated in the Department of Thoracic Surgery of KMAH from 1994 till 1996: 27 males (22-63 year-old) and 5 females (33-87 year-old). The causes of pyopneumothorax were as follows: destructive absceding pneumonia in 20 cases, acute lung abscess in 8 cases, lung gangrene in 1 case, lung TB in 2 cases and suppurative traumatic pneumothorax in 1 case.
