Purpose. The aim of this work was to find differences of 10 Hz attenuated flash visual evoked potentials (fVEP) performed for patients prior cataract surgery and compare results with postoperative visual acuity. Methods: 40 patients with dense cataracts (no fundus details where seen performing ophthalmoscopy) where examined prior cataract surgery. Examination protocol included 10 Hz fVEP with standard light intensity and attenuated light from -5dB to - 25dB in 5dB steps. Visual acuity after cataract operation was evaluated and patients where selected into two groups: having visual acuity 0.3 and worse and with visual acuity 0.7 or better. The main reason for bad postoperative visual acuity was advanced glaucoma. Patients with postoperative complications where excluded. [...].
