Alpha microcurrent treatment in trigeminal neuralgia pain
Alpha microcurrent (AM) is showed to help manage chronic and acute pain in various situations. We assume that AM can be beneficial in trigeminal neuralgia (TN) treatment. To compare the effect of TN pharmaceutical (PTG) and combined treatment groups (CTG) – pharmaceutical with AM, on pain management. Patients were randomly assigned to PTG or CTG. The Penn Facial Pain Scale was used to assess facial pain intensity and interference with activities, at the 1st and last day of treatment and repeated after 1st and 3rd months. 74 patients participated in the study. 34 (46.6%) patients recieved CTG. TN pain was positively correlated with general activity, walking, work, relations with others, sleep, enjoyment of life, dental hygiene, eating hard foods (R 0.26-0.37, p<0.05). Table 1 […]. Comparing the differences of the sum mean values of pain evaluation - Pain score was lower by 21.7 in the CTG and 14.3 points in the PTG after treatment […].
