Pelargonium sidoides DC – is a flowering plant originating from South Africa. The dry pelargonium root extract has an antiseptic, immune-modulating properties are characterized by an active extract fraction – proanthocyanidins, and it has anantimicrobial and antioxidant effects [1,2]. Due to these properties, it is important to carry out a quantitative analysis of these compounds. Objects of this research – Pelargonium sidoides DC root dry extract (Frutarom, Switzerland) and the polymeric films with this extract. The aim of the research: to determine the amount of proanthocyanidins in Pelargonium sidoides DC root extract and to establish the releasing amount of these compounds from the polymeric films using spectrophotometric method. Task of this research: 1. Using the DMCA UV-VIS spectrophotc method to determine the amount of proanthocyanidins in Pelargonium sidoides DC root extract, in purified proanthocyanidins fraction form the extract, in lyophilized purified proanthocyanidins fraction.
