Nonpenetrating glaucoma surgery: canaloplasty (one year follow up)

Purpose. To evaluate effectiveness of canaloplasty and to compare it with combined procedure canaloplasty with phacoemulsification. Methods: Inclusion criteria for nonpenetrating glaucoma surgery was uncompensated with conservative medication open glaucoma in unoperated eyes. Totally were operated 22 eyes: 11 canaloplasty alone (1 group) and 11 canaloplasty combined with phacoemulsification (2 group). Canaloplasty was performed as sstandard procedure (conjunctival incision, calibrated superficial scleral flap dissection, deep flap dissection, enlarging descemet's window, excision of the deep flap, catheterization, dilation of Schlemm's canal, suture tension, jundging suture tension, watertight closure). In postoperative period patients were examined with slitlamp and IOP was measured. One year follow up data were collected. Results: Average IOP in all group was 22,84±5,83 mmHg before surgery and 12,54±2,89 mmHg one year after surgery (1 group 24,34±6,79 and 13,85±3,26mmHg; 2 group 21,35±4,57 and 11,79±1,79mm Hg respectively).
