Abstract (en)
One of main causes of perioperative complications is linked with cardiac function, and the risk of perioperative cardiac morbidity is tightly related to the presence of cardiac failure and/or the severity of coronary artery disease. Such patients are common in surgical population, and anaesthesia and surgery induce major shifts in their cardiovascular system. There are many studies of preoperative assesment and analysis of multiple risk factors taken from the patient's history, and physiological variables, and risk-scoring systems for perioperative cardiac events have been developed.
