Glioblastoma multiforme (astrocitoma grade IV, WHO) is the most common and most aggresive primary brain tumor in adults. Supposadly, glioblastoma arises from altered glia cells or/and brain stem cells. These tumors are characterized by intratumoral heterogeneity, invasive growth nature and rapid recurrence. Despite aggresive multimodal therapy, prognosis for glioblastoma patients still remains poor, as most patients die within the first 12-15 months after diagnosis.
