Abstract (en)
Introduction. All European countries are experiencing significant ageing of the population. Falls in older adults are a major public health concern [1] and a main cause of morbidity and disability [2]. More than one-third of persons 65 years of age or older fall each year, and in half of such cases the falls are recurrent [2]. To promote health, enhance quality life and reduce falls in older people various interventions may be used: balance training exercises, home modifications, appropriate footwear and walking aids. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Cawthorne-Cooksey exercises on balance improvement in older women.
