Background and objectives. Data show that symptoms of anxiety affect mortality risk in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) independently of symptoms of depression, in addition to attenuating the relationship between depressive symptoms and mortality in these individuals. Other studies show that the standardized mortality ratio due to suicide seems to be higher for patients with DM. Studies on prediabetes, mental disorders and mortality are lacking. The aim of the study was to evaluate how primary care patients’ deaths are related to assigning a person to a certain glucose tolerance test group and mental disorder in 10 years of follow-up. Material (patients) and research method used. This study has been approved by Kaunas Regional Bioethics Committee, Lithuania (No. BE-2-34/2011, No. PI-22/2013).
