Abstract (en)
Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) patients generally have a poor prognosis, with median survival of 10-12 months and only 3-5% of patients survive longer than 3 years. We performed clinical data and molecular analysis on eleven long-term survivors of GBM to identify any prognostic factors that could potentially contribute to longer survival. The clinical data was evaluated by checking patients records. Tumor tissue DNA extracted from frozen samples were used to evaluate the methylation status of DNA repair gene O-6-methylguanine methyltransferase (MGMT) and transcription factor GATA binding protein 6 (GATA6) in ten gliomablastoma long-survivors.
