Abstract
Martinkevičiūtė I. Sergančiųjų psichikos ligomis, psichoemocinės būsenos korekcija, taikant dailės terapiją ir kaniterapiją, magistranto baigiamasis darbas mokslinio darbo vadovė dr. V. Grigaliūnienė, konsultantė doc. dr. J. Rapolienė; Lietuvos sveikatos mokslų universitetas, Slaugos fakultetas, Reabilitacijos klinika, Vilniaus dailės akademijos Kauno fakultetas. Kaunas, 2019: 77 p.
Tyrimo tikslas - įvertinti sergančiųjų psichikos ligomis psichoemocinę būseną taikant dailės terapiją ir kaniterapiją.
Uždaviniai:
1. Įvertinti psichikos ligomis sergančiųjų psichoemocinę būseną taikant dailės terapiją.
2. Įvertinti psichikos ligomis sergančiųjų psichoemocinę būseną taikant kaniterapiją.
3. Nustatyti ir palyginti psichikos ligomis sergančiųjų psichoemocinę būseną taikant dailės terapiją ir kaniterapiją.
Tyrimo klausimai:
1. Atlikti tolimesnius tyrimus siekiant įvertinti ilgalaikės dailės terapijos ir kaniterapijos poveikį globos namuose.
2. Taikyti dailės terapiją bei kaniterapiją psichikos ligomis sergantiems asmenims psichikos sveikatos centruose, globos namuose.
3. Rengti mokymus sveikatos priežiūros specialistams, siekiant didinti informuotumą apie dailės terapijos, bei kaniterapijos veiksmingumą, taikymo galimybes, bei naudą asmenims sergantiems psichikos ligomis.
Martinkevičiūtė I. Psycho-emotional State Correction of Patients with Mental Illness in Application of Art and Animal-assisted Therapies. Master thesis scientific supervisor V. Grigaliūnienė PhD, consultant J. Rapolienė PhD. Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Faculty of Nursing, Rehabilitation Clinic, Vilniaus Art Academy Kaunas Faculty. Kaunas, 2019: 77 pages.
Research aim: to evaluate the changes in depression and anxiety in mental illness by applying art and animal-assisted therapies.
Research goals:
1. To evaluate the psycho-emotional state of patients with mental illness by applying art therapy.
2. To evaluate the psycho-emotional state of patients with mental illness by applying animal-assisted therapy.
3. Identify and compare the psycho-emotional state of patients with mental illness by applying art therapy and animal-assisted therapies.
Research questions:
1. How behaviour and verbalization of emotions changes during art therapy process of research respondents? 2. How emotional change is reflected in art expression of research respondents? Research methods: it is a mixed study, carried out in 8 sessions during which 2 separate patient groups of art therapy and animal-assisted therapy were assessed. To monitor the dynamics of patient’s emotional state HAD scale was used. To determine the effectiveness of interventions and to assess the change in psycho-emotional state, a diagnostic of drawing series (DDS) was used. Also, analyses of art therapy and animal-assisted therapy case studies was done. Research participants: the study was carried out at the Lithuanian Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. Research participants included 24 adult patients with mental illness, out of which 12 respondents attended art therapy group (mean age 48,8 y.) and the other 12 - canine therapy (mean age 46 y.). Research results: when applying art therapy a significant decrease in symptoms of depression, anxiety was found and when using animal-assisted therapy – there was a slight change in symptoms. There were no significant differences in effectiveness of these two interventions in psycho-emotional state when comparing depression and anxiety changes. A slight decrease in depression and anxiety was found during art therapy sessions. As well as, there was a statistically significant reduction in anxiety during animal-assisted therapy sessions, from apparent anxiety in visible behaviours and verbal expression to mild expression. During these sessions a slight reduction of depression was noticed too. When it comes to case studies analyses, the changes of depression and anxiety symptoms were associated with the following art expressions: from portrayal of moving objects to static ones, from using pure colours to switching to mixing colours, emotional changes were also observed in increased paper space filling, decreased landscape, animal display and use of colours. Recommendations: 1. Carry out further research to assess the impact of long-term art therapy and animal-assisted therapy in a nursing home. 2. Apply art therapy and animal-assisted therapy to patients with mental illness in mental health centers, care homes. 3. Organise trainings for healthcare professionals to raise awareness of the effectiveness, applicability, and benefits of art therapy and animal-assisted therapy for patients with mental illnesses.
