A Bridge of Cooperation with Poland: Delegation from Nicolaus Copernicus University Visits LSMU

On 7 October, the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) welcomed a delegation from Poland’s Nicolaus Copernicus University (Uniwersytet Mikołaja Kopernika, UMK). The delegation included: First Vice-Rector Prof. Adam Kola, Vice-Rector for International Relations Prof. Magda Barwiołek, University Board member Prof. Marcin Czyżniewski, Rector’s Adviser for Student Affairs and Education Prof. Bogumiła Kupcewicz, Director of the Centre for Academic Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer Prof. Cezary Odrzygóźdź, and Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Aleksandra Kustra-Rogatka.

The guests were received by LSMU Rector Prof. Rimantas Benetis, Chancellor of the Medical Academy Prof. Daiva Rastenytė, Vice-Rector for Studies Prof. Kęstutis Petrikonis, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Andrius Macas, and Dean of the International Relations and Study Centre Prof. Ingrida Janulevičienė.

During the visit, the delegation was introduced to the activities of LSMU, while the guests from Poland presented their own university. The UMK representatives also visited the Faculties of Pharmacy and Nursing, the Medical Simulation Centre, and the University Library.

Nicolaus Copernicus University is one of Poland’s largest public universities, based in Toruń, with branches in Bydgoszcz. A significant part of this comprehensive university is the Collegium Medicum – its medical faculty located in Bydgoszcz – where studies and research in medicine, pharmacy, nursing, and public health are conducted. UMK is actively engaged in international health science projects and research programmes.

The meeting was constructive and cordial, with discussions focusing on potential areas of cooperation between the two universities. Numerous topics of mutual academic interest were identified, and both institutions expressed hope to continue developing this newly established and promising partnership in the forseeable future.
