Association

The LSMU Alumni Association is an independent, voluntary, public, non-political, non-profit organisation bringing together the graduates of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU), as well as Kaunas Medical University (KMU), Kaunas Medical Academy, Kaunas Medical Institute, Faculty of Medicine under Kaunas University, Vytautas Magnus University Faculty of Medicine, and the Lithuanian Veterinary Academy (LVA), Veterinary Academy, Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lithuania, and graduates of the Higher Courses, as well as public, personal, and animal health care, pharmaceutical, food industry, agricultural companies, manufacturers and vendors of laboratory and medical equipment and other legal entities operating in Lithuania and abroad.

The Association’s strategy 2025–2029 focuses on the pro-active and efficient involvement of alumni in the University’s activities and on stronger ties between current students and alumni.

The LSMU Alumni Association strives to become an important networking platform for former and current students, encourage sharing of professional experience and knowledge, and strengthen the University’s prestige both in Lithuania and internationally. An important direction of the Association’s activities is cooperation with business and state institutions offering financial and other forms of support to LSMU students and researchers.

Association Governance

The LSMU Alumni bodies represent a multi-level governance structure comprising the Assembly, the Board, the President, the Vice-Presidents, and the Control Committee.

  • The Assembly is the supreme governing body of LSMU Alumni, responsible for amending the Statutes, making strategic decisions, and electing the main governing bodies. It is convened annually and decisions are taken by majority vote.
  • The Board is a collegial strategic body composed of elected members, LSMU delegates, and the President. It plans the organisation’s activities, approves the budget, and decides on other important issues.
  • The President is a single-person leader responsible for representing the LSMU Alumni, coordinating activities, and enforcing decisions. The President shall also propose to the Board the nominations of the Vice-Presidents.
  • Vice-Presidents are appointed by the President to carry out tasks assigned to them and assist in the management of the organisation.
  • The Control Committee is an independent supervisory body that verifies the legality and efficiency of the activities of the LSMU Alumni and has the right to initiate an Extraordinary Meeting if inconsistencies are detected.
