The Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) had its annual Culture Week from May 12–16 with the goal of uniting the university community, encouraging them to break away from their routine, and involving them in cultural education events.

This year’s Culture Week theme, Quiet Escapes, encouraged individuals to take a break and discover fresh approaches to living a healthy existence. Community members acquired knowledge about how to maintain composure in hectic current settings, create a balance between work and rest, and take care of their well-being throughout the event.

“This year, we aimed to identify approaches and plan events that would allow the university community to take a brief respite from work, interact with coworkers through a variety of unconventional activities, laugh together, and enjoy themselves. Bringing joy and relaxation to the community was the aim of this cultural week,” shared Gerda Čepienė, Head of the LSMU Event and Culture Office, who organised the event.

Community members took part in art and forest therapy sessions, manufactured toys for the Wild Animal Rescue Centre’s animals, and visited the Cathedral, the Emanuelis Levinas Centre, and the rooftops of Kaunas Old Town. Throughout the week, training sessions took place at the Sports Centre, with enjoyable pauses supplied by complimentary ice cream.

Meaningful conversations were held throughout the week, including a meeting with National Prize laureate Darius Žiūras, a podcast about work-life balance, and a debate about optimism with comedian Justinas Visickas. A full-day excursion to Baisogala Manor and the LSMU Institute of Animal Science marked the end of the culture week.
