MEDICAL AND VETERINARY BIOCHEMISTRY

The medical and veterinary biochemistry study programme trains proactive, enterprising professionals who can perform biochemical research in the fields of environmental monitoring, laboratory diagnostics, and food and biopharmaceutical raw material and product analysis.

A bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences and a professional certification as a biomedical technologist are granted upon completion of studies.

  • Work in various biochemical laboratories and private sector companies conducting research related to the diagnostics of human and animal diseases, environmental monitoring, the control of food, agriculture products, and raw materials.
  • Successfully continue your studies in graduate programs in laboratory diagnostics, natural sciences, and technology fields.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

What you will learn in each year:

  • Year 1 – Basic Sciences: General Biology and Genetics; Physics; General, Inorganic, Organic, and Bioorganic Chemistry; Advanced Mathematics; Human and Laboratory Animal Anatomy.
  • Year 2 and Year 3 – Core Life Sciences and Applied Sciences Subjects: Biochemistry, Physiology, Microbiology, General and Molecular Pathology, Histology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Laboratory Hematology, and Basics of Immunology, Bioinformatics, Diagnostic Biochemistry.
  • Year 4 – Professional Practice and Final Thesis.

STUDY ENVIRONMENT

Studies at LSMU take place in modern classrooms, renovated laboratories and established practice bases. Practical skills are taught with the help of modern simulation equipment.

Students have the opportunity to live in one of the university’s dormitories. The dormitories are located in strategically convenient places, not far from the university departments, there are bus and trolleybus stops, shops and various entertainment places nearby.
