4th International Scientific Conference “Animal Assisted Therapy: Impact on Human Health and Future Prospects”

We invite you to participate in the 4th International Scientific Conference “Animal Assisted Therapy: Impact on Human Health and Future Prospects”, which will be held in a hybrid format (on-site and online) on 22-23 October 2026.

The conference is organized by the Faculty of Animal Sciences of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, the Animal Science Institute of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, in cooperation with the Division of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences.

The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers, healthcare professionals, educators, social workers, practitioners of animal-assisted interventions, and other interested stakeholders to share knowledge, professional experience, and the latest scientific research findings in the field of animal-assisted services. The conference will address the impact of animals on human health and well-being, animal welfare and ethical considerations, as well as future directions and challenges in the development of animal-assisted interventions.

Date: October 22-23, 2026
Venue: Faculty of Animal Sciences, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Tilžės St. 18, Kaunas, Lithuania.

The following scientific sections are planned for oral and poster presentations:

  • Effects on human health and wellbeing
  • Animal welfare
  • Ethics aspects
  • Other related topics

Information regarding presentations:

  • The duration of an invited speaker’s oral presentation is 20 minutes + 5 minutes for discussion.
  • The duration of an oral presentation is 12 minutes + 3 minutes for discussion.
  • The duration of poster presentation is  3-5 minutes.
  • Poster presentations must be prepared in PowerPoint format and include narration (audio recording). They will be uploaded and made available in a remote OneDrive storage.
  • Requirements for abstracts
  • We kindly ask that abstracts of oral and poster presentations be submitted via email conferences@lsmu.lt till 25 September 2026.
  • Abstracts of oral and poster presentations are planned to be published in a supplement of the scientific journal „VETERINARIJA ir ZOOTECHNIKA“ (ISSN 1392-2130; ISSN 2669-2511).

Certificates. Professional development certificates registered by the Centre for Postgraduate Studies of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences will be issued to conference participants and presenters.

Target audience. Complementary and alternative healthcare professionals, human-animal interaction specialists, animal science specialists, public health specialists, and other individuals interested in the application of animal-assisted therapy and interventions.

Free certificates will be issued to registered conference participants, including invited speakers, presenters, and attendees who participate in the conference either on-site or online.

No participation fee will be charged.
