Ebook Central: New Ebook Central App Replaces Adobe Digital Editions

Ebook Central is moving to a new Reader App for downloaded ebooks. The app replaces Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) as the primary way to read ebook downloads offline.

The new app, developed by Clarivate, is available for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android and provides a more secure and accessible reading experience. You can continue to use the familiar Ebook Central website to search for ebooks and read online. These changes apply to those who want to download books to their devices and read them offline, without an internet connection.

What you need to know?

From the start of 2027, Adobe Digital Editions will no longer be used with Ebook Central. Please switch from Adobe Digital Editions to the Ebook Central App before the end of 2026.

How to get started?

Log in to your personal Ebook Central account. If you don’t have a personal Ebook Central account yet, you can create one by clicking the “Create Account” button.
In the top right corner of the screen, click “Profile”.
Click “Manage / Get Code”.
Click the “Download the App” button on “Manage Your Devices” page.
Download the app following the provided instructions.
Once the app is installed, go back to the “Manage Your Devices” page and click the “Get Login Code” button.
A device registration code will be generated in the new window.
Open the app. Enter the generated registration code and click “Submit”.

You can add up to 6 devices. To add another device, click “Get Login Code” and enter the generated code in the app on the new device.
