The Joint Action on Respiratory Diseases (JARED) aims to reduce the burden of chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs) across Europe. The project focuses on strengthening prevention, early detection, treatment, and long-term management of CRDs through the integration of innovative digital health solutions, improved access to diagnostic tools, and enhanced health literacy.
The initiative is based on a collaborative, multi-sectoral approach involving healthcare institutions, policymakers, and relevant stakeholders. Particular attention is given to integrating environmental and lifestyle factors into prevention and disease management strategies in order to ensure a comprehensive and holistic response to respiratory diseases.
The project seeks to enhance primary healthcare capacities, improve diagnostic skills, support patient self-management, and promote the uptake of evidence-based recommendations in public health policies. Special emphasis is placed on inclusiveness and improving access to care for vulnerable population groups.
In the short term, the project will establish evaluation frameworks and develop educational materials. In the medium term, it will strengthen healthcare capacities and expand public health interventions. In the long term, JARED aims to achieve a sustained reduction in CRD prevalence and improvements in patients’ quality of life across Europe.
