
Health Data Scientific Analytics Center
The goal of the Health Data Scientific Analytics Center (DAC) is to conduct fundamental and applied health data research, assist and advise researchers and scientists at the University and University Hospitals on data analytics and tools used for analysis, offer tools, infrastructure and recommendations in the areas of research data management and reuse, and conduct commissioned health data-based scientific research.
ABOUT THE CENTER
In implementing the measure “Establishment and development of the Center for Health Data Analytics” of the strategic goal of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) Strategic Development Guidelines for 2022-2026 “By conducting the highest level of fundamental and applied research, create a health system based on scientific knowledge and sustainable technologies”, the Health Data Scientific Analytics Center of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences was established by the Resolution of the Senate of LSMU No. 178-05 of April 18, 2024. Short name: LSMU Data Analytics Center (DAC).
The DAC is established on a functional basis. The Department of Physics, Mathematics and Biophysics of the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical Academy of LSMU participates in the work of the DAC and performs the functions assigned to it. Other departments of LSMU may also participate in the activities of the DAC.
DAC operates in cooperation with the University’s structural and functional units, personal healthcare institutions, and legal entities in Lithuania and abroad. DAC is directly subordinate to the University’s Vice-Rector for Science.
The scientific direction and topics of the DAC are formed, approved, and the progress of their implementation is supervised by the Scientific Coordination Committee, established upon the proposal of the University Vice-Rector for Science, the composition and work regulations of which are approved by the order of the University Rector (No. 2024-V-0244).
Main DAC functions:
- Collect, analyze and systematize anonymized and pseudonymized health data from various sources; analyze the collected anonymized health data using advanced analysis methods and present the obtained results, insights and recommendations;
- Provide data analytics and methodological consultations to researchers, scientists and doctoral students of the University and University Hospitals;
- Implement new health data analytics methods and tools;
- Promote and implement educational and training activities in the field of data analytics;
- To administer the Health Data Scientific Analytics Information System (IS) and Database (DB) for the collection and analysis of data (including health), the accumulation and systematization of related data, initiate updates to the administered IS and DB, the need for new IS and DB;
- To provide data analytics and methodological consulting services to customers
- To perform other general functions.
